ASCAP
ASCAP stands for American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, and in June of 2010 Los Angeles Eminem presented his friend and mentor Dr. Dre with ASCAP’s Founders Award at the 23rd Annual Rhythm And Soul Music Awards. “It would’ve been a lot easier for Dre to dismiss me like most people did,” Em said to the crowd. “But he didn’t. He stepped up to the challenge because he saw something in me, and for that, Dre, I’m forever grateful, man.” Watch after the jump.
Eminem and Dre shared a hug before posing for some photos, and then the doc gave his acceptance speech.
“First I want to start by saying I am living an incredible life,” a humble-sounding Dre said. “I mean being able to make a living doing what I love, it’s incredible—and to have so many people enjoy it for so many years, man I can’t even explain to you how good that feels.”
